At Sudbrooke pre-school we are passionate about your child's early years education so with that in mind we aim to provide a friendly and stimulating environment for children to explore and learn.

We understand that all children are unique and aim to create suitable activities and play opportunities to encourage the levels of development to flourish.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage guidelines and use the online learning journal Tapestry to record and monitor the areas of development .

There are seven areas of learning and development that shape educational programmes in early years settings. All are important and interconnected. Three areas are identified as being particularly crucial in igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning and to build their capacity to learn, form relationships and thrive. These three areas, the prime areas, are:

  • personal, social and emotional development;

  • communication and language; and

  • physical development.

  •

Providers must also support children in four specific areas. These are:

  • literacy;

  • mathematics;

  • understanding the world; and

  • expressive arts and design.
